about: Darlene Wolfe~Founder of the
Traveling Art Shack!!
Greetings to You, my name is Darlene Wolfe and I am the Founder of the Traveling Art Shack.
Since childhood I have always enjoyed creating Art. I remember taking my brothers sketch book, when he gave up taking art classes and sitting in nature sketching tree's, animals or just doodle for fun. Nature is truly one of my inspirations along with whimsical humor that is infused in my fine art.
An inspiring childhood artful influence was my Elementary Art Teacher Mrs. Flattery. I loved how she embraced her care free spirit with zeal and passion for Art. She imbued a gentle nurturing demeanor to guide each art student to fully express themselves without judgment . This spirit of heartfelt influence allowed me to explore and find my own original expression through Art without limitations. So grateful to her as a mentor sharing the muse of imagination and exploration through the medium of Art and Life itself.
My Dad, Walter, inspired me regarding Art growing up too. I feel his spirit presence with me every time I am creating. He never called himself an Artist but he truly was brilliant in creating on so many levels! He easily tapped into his imagination to create~ be it landscaping, trompe l' oeil paintings in our house, recycled art, to rebuilding a car engine from scratch! He showed me by his own creative passions that the skies the limit!! When your heart is open to being curious you begin to explore many possibilities that can flourish into creating any art work or project. He felt it was best to play with any type of materials and there was no wrong or right way in approaching any idea. I learned from him to just dive in creating, go with the flow and always trust your intuition! So grateful for he truly was and always will be my heart speak inspiration!
I have been so fortunate and blessed to be able to teach Art with children and adults for over 20 years through various non profit arts organizations, seminars and events~ within the Tri State area in NYC.
I have been graciously invited back several times to the UFT Teacher's Art Conference presenting my Art & Soul Seminars for Educators. My Seminars are for all the Teacher/Educator's being of service, their passion to teach and share with their students no doubt. Yet in this Seminar I focus solely on the Teacher/Educator guiding them to tap into their core essence to rejuvenate their well being with ease. As such, they assimilate a balance within their mind , body and spirit for greater good as a Teacher to continue being a beacon of inspirational light on their path in life as well as their students.
Through teaching Art I noticed how it can assist in nurturing and healing emotions from traumatic events, aiding therapeutically, in reducing stress as well. I decided to acquire a Certificate in Creative Art Therapy at the New School for Social Research and completed in 2011. My internship was assisting Art and Music Therapists with a focus on children diagnosed within the Autistic Spectrum. I decided to continue volunteering my services for another year, after my internship, since I was able to assist children in reaching certain milestones in their growth and have learned so much from these beautiful children. Children are at their best when you meet them where their at in life. To be a nurturing guide with grace and compassion to see them blossom forth to their greatest potential!!!
I live in a lovely community on Fire Island, Long Island each Summer teaching Art with children for over 14 Artful years to date. The Art Studio is an old garage where I provide an enriching Art Program for ages 4 - 12 yrs of age. This beautiful natural landscape is a wonderful muse for tapping into the creative spirit sharing with the community always. The children happen to call this old garage "The Art Shack."
Hence, me deciding on the name of my website for Artful services, the "Traveling Art Shack!"
During the Fall, Winter and Spring time I am available to traveling around various communities providing my Artful services teaching Art with children in NYC.
I am hired to give one on one art lessons or small groups in the home, collaborative efforts with other entrepreneurs, to non profits, private/charter schools, home schooling & children's birthday parties/fundraising events.
